Two Comedy Central Items

Two items on Comedy Central shows, that happen to air back-to-back:
  • Kurt Vonnegut's list of "Liberal Crap I Never Want to Hear Again", a list he started to read on Tuesday's edition of The Daily Show but ran out of time, can be found here. I have to say this: as much as I love Kurt Vonnegut's writing, the list doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But then again, neither did much of the interview, in which Kurt basically said whatever the hell he wanted, no matter what question Jon Stewart asked him. He basically ran the interview. Jon was too busy fawning to ask him any real questions. It was nice to see ol' Kurt on TV in something other than a Visa commercial, though.
  • There is nothing more uncomfortable on a comedy show than when the usually hyped-up studio audience doesn't laugh at the host's jokes. The only person I saw who could handle that situation well was Johnny Carson, and he left TV 13 years ago. So when Adam Carolla, host of the new show Too Late with Adam Carolla, tells a joke that falls flat (and he does that often... Adam's a funny guy but he needs a partner like Dr. Drew or Jimmy Kimmel to reign his rants in), the silence seems like it lasts for thirty seconds. Adam just keeps plowing along, bless his little heart, but he must hear the silence and think "This show isn't lasting past Christmas." I certainly agree. And Comedy Central cancelled Tough Crowd for this. Go figure.
