Tonight on TV - Football and a Reunion

Two highlights of an interesting night of TV:
  • Reunion, which premieres at 9 PM on FOX. This show starts as a former high school clique mourns the loss of one of their members under suspicious circumstances. As the person's death is being investigated, the audience is transported back to the group's graduation in 1986, and each year of their lives is examined in each episode, leading to the resolution of the case in 2006. Not having seen the show, this could make for an interesting study in how people change -- for better or worse -- as they age. Or it could be a crashing bore that gets cancelled by that 1992 episode where everyone has a mullet.
  • The NFL season finally starts for real tonight -- get those office pool picks in early, folks! -- when the New England Patriots host the Oakland Raiders on ABC. Before the game, the NFL will hold their anual Opening Kickoff celebration, with musical performances from The Rolling Stones, Trisha Yearwood, Green Day, Santana, Maroon 5, and... Kanye West. Yeah, you heard me. Kanye is promising to stick to the script and keep his editorial comments to himself, for which I'm sure the NFL is grateful. Although having Mike Meyers up there on stage with him, with that look of sheer fright he showed as Kanye went off on Bush and company during Friday's Katrina benefit show, would be funny as hell. They could be the best comedy team since... well, since Wayne and Garth on "Wayne's World".
