Chachi and the Bluths

Today, Scott Baio told E! Online that he is joining the cast of Arrested Development in a recurring role as the Bluth family's lawyer. Baio, also known as The Luckiest Man On The Face Of The Earth (evidence of that is in the picture to the right), will be taking the place of Henry Winkler, who played bumbling and unethical lawyer Barry Zuckerhorn. Winkler will be starring in the new CBS sitcom Out of Practice this fall, and apparently doesn't have time to perform in any Emmy-winning sitcoms.

Of course, unless you've been eating a lot of paste the last thirty years, you know that Baio played Chachi, cousin to Winkler's Fonzie, on Happy Days. I'm sure the writers of AD are going to work that in; after having Winkler jump over a piece of a shark* in the background of one scene (he jumped the shark... Get it?) I wouldn't put it past them to make Baio's new character, Bob Loblaw, related to Zuckerhorn. Or maybe Loblaw will have gone to law school after working as a live-in nanny for a few years. Whatever works.

As long as he doesn't have any love scenes with Charlize Theron, I'll be happy. That'd just be unfair.

* I missed that part of the scene when I saw that AD episode. I still haven't seen it, even in reruns. *Sigh*. Guess that's what DVDs are for.
